Center for Educational Access

To accomplish our mission, we:

• Assure students are provided appropriate adjustments and support to facilitate access to UB’s academic programs;
• Validate student need as required under the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAA), reviewing and assessing documentation and determining appropriate, necessary accommodations and support;
• Address UB community attitudes regarding disability, encouraging acceptance and dispelling myths – demonstrating that our students should be judged on the basis of ability, not disability;
• Encourage the use of and make available the training for assistive technology;
• Provide referrals as deemed necessary in an attempt to support and promote a well-balanced life outside of UB in items of work and personal achievement;
• Support UB’s Office of Human Resources by providing advice and assistance with employee accommodations; and
• Assist UB’s Office of Facilities Management with design suggestions to make UB facilities accessible.
